Could be the power supply, if there is nothing coming on, like no start up screen or any lights, then I would says its the power supply.
All your information will be safe, you just need to get a new power supply and then it will work like new again. Just make sure you get the right kind that works with your motherboard.

Replacing the power supply is very easy. You might can even pick a good used one up at a thrift store. I have seen many for sale from old computer with 200 or 250 watts. Just pay attention to how all the wires are plugged in and only unplug one at a time so you don't loose your way.

While it COULD be your power supply, it could be any number of things.

In any case, here's a link on how to test your Power Supply

Try these steps:
1: Try another outlet for your computer's power cord.
2: *IF* you have another cord, swap it for your computer, *IF* that doesn't work.....

3: DISCONNET EVERYTHING from your computer EXCEPT the Monitor, Keyboard & Mouse. Be SURE to UNplug ANYTHING connected to the USB Ports.

4: *IF* that doesn't help, you'll have to go INSIDE your compter. UNPLUG the cables from your drives, ONE drive at a time, try to turn your computer on each time you have unplugged the Two Cables from a drive until you have UNplugged every drive.

5:*IF* it still doesn't turn on, you'll have to REMOVE ANY Cards installed EXCEPT the Video card (It's the one that your monitor is plugged into).

6: *IF* it still doesn't start, REMOVE all your Memory modules

*IF* your computer stil does NOT come on you have either a bad Power Supply or your motherboard is most likley bad.

NOTE: IF you need to get files off your hard drive you can remove it from your computer and connect it to another so you can retrieve the files you want. (just amke sure the Jumpers on the back of the drive are set to SLAVE.

There are several things that this could be, but after you have checked the breakers, and plugged the computer into another power source and it still does not work, then it could well be your power switch or power supply.

If the machine got shaken or bumped, the connector (PSU or power switch) could have come loose. Check all connections inside. Refer to motherboard user manual for pinouts. Also, the solder joints on the switch could be loose.
