Superficial...yes, I know...but I regret not joining a mainstream sorority while in college because of the networking and meeting the "right" kind of people. I was even recruited several times and told I should join one, but did not because my family was not supportive of it. Now I feel like I don't have the friends and networking I want. How do I go about befriending these types?
Thanks

I don't think it is superficial but a real necessity in today's business society (remember the "old boy network" - it still exists).

Might try to research what groups, activities these people are involved in even church. Do you remember their names, were any of them your friends. Is there someone you can telephone to say hello.

Good luck.

My college did not have sororities, although we did have a residential housing system that funcionated as a sort of group identifier. Nevertheless we generally mixed quite a bit. Now that I'm graduated, the people I keep in touch the most with were my housemates but I still talk a lot to other people, too. As for the networking, my college has a great networking system with ample contact between alums and current students on several different levels: geographic location, class year, field of interest... I suggest contacting your career development center (or whatever else you have that's similar) and see if they can put you in contact with other alums in your area or with your interests. Also check and see if there is some kind of alumni association. Sometimes they host events and mixers and it's a good way to meet people.
