What do you think of the name Basildon for a boy? And Maldon for a girl?

Maldon isn't a bad name for a guy (not very good for a girl). Basildon, however, sounds a bit like a long-necked dinosaur.

No and No. They are names of places and not people for a reason. You're children are still going to have some connection to your past as they are YOUR kids, I don't think you need to name them after places in your homeland to give them that link.

Besides, no-one else will know why they're called that, they'll just think that it's a really ugly name. (Sorry to be harsh). Why not try giving them a traditional English name instead like Elizabeth or Oliver or Ainslie or something...

you could make basildon work by calling him Basil for short....but Maldon maybe Madelyn instead?

well you are obviously naming them after where you live/ conceived. As i know both of these places well.

Both are hidious names and why be son mean to your child. why not call them london or essex! never name a child after where they were conceived they will get picked on so much. even if they wernt conceived there people will joke that they were

In what country do you live?

In the USA, that would be an unacceptable name.

Personally, it sounds like it came out of a JRR Tolkien novel, and wouldn't recommend it.

Sorry I would said no. Nobody is going to be able to pronounce their names. Sebastian for boy Madison for girl.

I like unusual names, but both of these are a little too far out there. Sorry, but I don't care for either of them.

sounds like another countries names....

Basildon sounds like a spice you would cook with.
Im not a big fan of them at all
