Doctors say to start with apple or pear. Nothing with too much acid. Remember to dilute.

My kids didn't have juice until they got to preschool, and only then because it was offered at snacktime. I never buy juice. I would much rather my children eat fruits and drink milk or water. I think they are healthier and the dentist agrees with me.
Here's what the experts say: The American Academy of Pediatrics has recently released a policy statement recommending that babies younger than 6 months should not be given any juice, children aged 6 months to 6 years should get no more than 4-6 ounces per day, and children older than 7 should have no more than 8-12 ounces of juice daily.

After they turn 2 years old they can have juice. There's really no need for it before then. It offers nothing nutritionally, and just gives them calories they don't need.
Additonally - babies have small stomachs that tend to fill easily. If you give them juice, they fill up on it and refuse their feedings. Since ALL their fluid and nutritional needs are met by breastmilk or formula until they're a year old, you don't want them to refuse any feeding.
The ONLY exception to this is if there is a chronic constipation issue - then it's used to treat a symptom, but always with a doctor's advice.

When they are able to drink from a sippie cup. You should never put anything other than formula in a bottle unless they are sick and then pediasure or any other doctor recommended substitute only. The sugars can cause problems with baby teeth and it is not worth it in the long run. It is also a good way to bottle break a baby they want to drink the juice so it encourages them to drink from a cup and work a little harder. I have 4 kids and they were all off their bottles by the time they were 9 months because of this method...Thimk no more bottle washing! If you are breast feeding giving them juice to soon can cause some bumps in the breast feeding for some babies and they could refuse to nurse. Never hesitate to talk to you childs doctor about any concerns you may have such as this you can never be to informed for your childs well being. Good luck.

Your baby does not need juice. All the experts say we give our kids way too much juice; why start now? STick with formula and water. I don't use juice until/unless it's needed, like to motivate a child to take medicine or to use a sippy cup.

You can dilute 100% juice with some water at 6 months when introducing a sippy cup, but there is no nutritional need for it, and I always recommend just using water. I waited until my daughter was 12 month old to give her any juice. Once you do give juice they should have no more than 4oz a day. Never put juice in a bottle, as the natural sugars collect at the silicon nipple and can cause tooth decay when your child sucks from it.

Juice is NOT necessary for babies. It can be okay in small amounts but is mosly sugar (even natural, baby juices) and can replace the breastmilk or formula they NEED to be drinking.
I've always held off on juice until my kids can hold a regular cup. Even then, I mostly give it if I am drinking some and they want a sip. I almost always offer water or milk (much less often than water and only once baby is over 12 months).

depends on whethere the baby juice is made from real babies.
Really, you have some good answers here, but I gave it to my kids after about 3 months. Of course, they were eating me out of house and home by then, oth were big, and had big appetites.
