Do you lock your door when you leave your house because you're greedy, or are you protecting your wealth?
So many people seem to thing it's morally wrong for the USA to protect its wealth. There will always be people and nations that want to take the wealth of others. Protecting that wealth sometimes requires violence and even war. Americans seem to find this notion egregious and need some moral highground to be convinced that war is necessary.
Every war America has been involved in has been to protect its wealth, and by doing so the American way of life. It's likely the Iraq war has the same underlying reason. Why would this evoke such guilt in the nation as a whole?

yes, I lock my door to protect my wealth. However, if I went around town shooting people in the head to protect my wealth, it would probably be frowned upon.

You are exactly right, we go to war to protect our national intrests. Which means economic interests. It's why we went to war in Iraq, but to SELL the war, Bush had to manufacture a threat because not many people want to fight and die so that you can drive your hummer.
I personally don't think its right to invade another country, plunder it, and then move onto the next war so that we can keep our wealth and standard of living. You have to ask yourself, would I want someone to do this to my country? Just remember what goes around, comes around, and don't be suprised if the policy comes back to bite you in the butt just like it did on 9/11.

Our nation is riddled with guilt. It is only appropriate that it be projected in wars as well. Some people would defend humanity - claiming there is more to life than money. But our nation, and our spoiled way of life is nurtured and made available because of our country's wealth.

I dont. I find it highly plausible as this what every war we have been involved in since 1913 has been about.

I don't really care if that is their reason for doing it either. I highly support the war for this reason alone.I know we can't pull out until the middle east is stable and I am all for a troop surge. I mean as much as I may disagree with their methods of protecting the wealth and economy of this country it has to be done.
