Currently, Amsterdam's general municipal policy is to refuse new applications for brothels, and city council tries to enforce its regulations as far as working hours, legal age, illegal immigrant prositutes etc. are concerned. Its success rate however, seems to be a bit on the bleak side, according to recent Dutch press reports.
Regulations may vary for each borough of Amsterdam. Most sex industry-related enterprises are located in the city centre, some only a mere hundred yards from a church or school.

in the red light area that's where the bothels are in amsterdam around canal street.... they are not spread all over the place.. although the yellow pages is a great read in holland as there's a prostitute section...
