I think the term "grow up" refers to a person ability to see beyond them selves. See that they have created folly, that they have hurt people and to know what they have done. To be grown up is to have regrets over the past, and see that the world is much larger then the person. A grown up person sees that they are a small piece, and sees that they should try to be the best person they can. Not for anybody else, but because they owe that to them selves.
That is how I see a grown up.
As far as two lovers opposite places, if all agree and enjoy it. Then have a damn good time.

What I would mean by 'grow up' depends on what provoked me to say it in the first place. An immature remark; a childish irritating prank; idiotic bigoted teenage-sounding questions. Mostly it would mean, stop being annoying and go away. But I don't think I've ever said it to you so don't take my answer as a personal attack.

as long as your "dreamy ways" don't interfere with your ability to have a relationship and a career, then I say you are OK, keep being like a kid. Now if you are like a kid in the sense of being irresponsible and immature, then you have a problem.
