I took the app(bubba) out of neglect and have been attached to him forever.Misti is the only one I can ride. She always along his side since I bought her at auction. How can I make separation easy for me and my horse?

Aww.... i am so sorry. this is a really sad thing to do, and horse owners need to to it most often because its so hard to keep a horse with expenses and everything...
Well I suggest that you treasure your last moments with her. Take plenty of pictures, spoil her, spend hours with her.... then you won't have any regrets later. And make sure she goes to a GREAT home with a nice pasture with other horses and nice owners. Keep in contact with the owners and maybe they will let you come by and ride her once in a while!
I'm sorry... good luck ;(

PS ignore Aunt Carol... she doesn't know what she's talking about...

If by seperation you mean the sale of one of your horses, there is no easy way. Depending on your location and the horse market how it is, you won't get much from the initial sale to help with a truck purchase. You'll have your other horse to console you, and the remaining horse may need a goat to keep him company in the pasture. Being herd animals makes it hard for them to live alone. It might be in your best interest to sell both, and take up riding lessons or a partial lease on a horse elsewhere to help you save money but keep you involved with horses. It's a tough thing to go through no matter how you look at it.

1. I'd try to contact someone looking for horses. you could contact your locate 4-H office and see if anyone is wanting the type of horses you own.
2. As for making it easier on you just make sure they get good homes as it will calm your fears knowing they are living with good people who will love them. When I sell animals I'm really attached to I sell them with the understanding that for any reason the new owners decide to get rid of them that I get 1st choice in buying them back or not. Once you do this you can again find them a suitable home where you know they will be cared for properly.

Contact a group like Horses and Humans:http://www.horsesandhumans.org/EAAParticipants.htm. they use horses to help people with disabilities learn horse back riding and there is something about the bond between the horse and rider that is really helping these kids. I am sure they can provide a loving home for your horse. Good Luck!

So the truck is more important to you than the lives of your horses.

Should be easy to give up your horse, you could eat it yourself instead of letting it go through the horrible process of sale and maybe resale until a killer buyer gets his hands on it, which if it is not ridable could be real soon.

Make sure the horse gets a good home. Don't sell it to anyone that you haven't seen their facilities and you feel comfortable with the buyers.
