Depends on your definition of better, do you want ease of ignition or energy output. The people above me are correct by saying lighter fluid (butane), gasoline (mix of heptanes through nonanes), then diesel (12 to 16 Carbons). However for enrgy output it is just the opposite, more energy comes from the combustion of diesel, then gasoline, then lighter fluid.

If you also factor in volume occupied by the phase of the natural occurance, methane and propane will give even better output as they are naturally gasses and can be compressed to store a lot more into a much tinier space.

Lighter fluid will definitlly burn better than gasoline and desiel because it has a smaller molecular mass, and according to the law of burning, the lighter or smaller the molecular mass of a gas, the better it burns with lighter soot. fuels with a higer molecular mass like gasoline and desiel with not burn better than lighter fluid becuase they burn producing soot and it takes a longer time to disintegrate the molecules before burning them up.

Lighter Fluid then Gasoline then Diesel.

Remeber a diesel engine doesn't actually ignite the diesel - it is combusted by compression.

Gasoline burns by ignition from the spark plugs.

Lighter fluid is downright Flammable as hell !!

it rather is as lots info as i ought to discover on the internet. The flash factor is the temperature at which the substance produces a vapor which could ignite. The flash factors of gas and gentle-weight fluid are: FP of gas -40 5° F. Burning gas has a temperature above 1500° E (945° C) FP of charcoal lighter a hundred and sixty°+ F.
