Our solar system is called the Solar System (note the capital letters) when it is capitalized it refers to our Solar System, when its not it can refer to ANY solar system. In English, the Solar System (centered on the Sun) is also referred to as the Planetary System. Our galaxy is called Milky Way. galaxies are much bigger and contain many individual solar systems. The name of the third planet of the Sol system (the "Earth") is named Tellus. And the "Sun" as most people call it is named Sol. The Moon is sometimes called Luna.

There is no official name. It's just the Solar System. As for those who say Milky Way, that is the name of our galaxy, which contains billions of stars. The solar system is just our sun, the planets, asteroids, comets, Kuiper belt objects, Oort cloud, and anything out to the bow shock (where the solar wind meets interstellar space).

Exoplanetary systems (systems with planets outside of our solar system) are generally called "the XXX system" with XXX being the name of the star. Thus, if we were to apply that naming tecnique to our system, as many science fiction authors do, we'd be the Sol System.
Earth would be Sol-b, probably, in the current system, although Sol-3 is accurate in the nomenclature of some scientists, and Sol-2 in the nomenclature of others (because of Mercury's shape and size.)

OMG, please shoot me! The Milky Way is a galaxy! We are in the Solar System, referring to the center of our orbit, the Sun. Solar means SUN, and there is only one object with that name. It is a star, like other stars in the universe. The definition of solar system is the Sun and all the bodies that orbit it. Anything that resembles our system is called a planetary system.

2 people actually gave Milky Way a thumbs up but please be aware - that is the name for our Galaxy - NOT our own star system.

The fact is we don't have a name for it. Like the first moon we discovered - it wasnt given a name, its just called The Moon. What is the Sun called? Some people say Sol but nobody calls it that - its just The Sun.

There is no name for the system as a group but it would reference the name for our sun which is sol when refering to planets and objects.
