I just had my first OB appt on Monday. The list they gave me with Medications You MAY take during pregnancy includes:

Colds/Cough & Antibiotics: Actifed Robitussin (Plain, CF or DM), Sudafed/Sudafed Sinus, Tylenol/Tylenol Cold & Sinus

Those are the OTCs listed. I woke up yesterday with a sore throat, runny nose, sneezing and an annoying cough. I went to Walgreens and chatted with the Pharmacists who also agreed with my list and suggested plain ole sudafed. I don't have a fever though - Tyelnol will help with the fever. If you want to be safe ask your OBs office or call the pharmacist at a local drug store.

Stay away from asprin, aleve, motrin, ibuprofen and nasal sprays unless they are saline sprays.

Good luck and feel better.

Try treating the cold by helping your immune system fight it. Load up on juice (tons of apple juice works for me though it does have it's effects on the digestive system... but the point is to "flush fluids") and multi-vitamins. Get plenty of rest. The cough is because of the runny nose. Try Vicks.

As for drugs, I can't recommend anything since I have no experience with pregnancy. But I think sometimes we look to drug a cold in order to avoid just having to rest. So, give the home remedies a try and be good to yourself. If you work, tell your boss you're taking a sick day (or even two... you deserve it). I hope you feel better soon.

There are some pregnancy safe medications, but if you have a fever, you absolutely need to check with your OBGYN to take something to reduce it for the health of your baby. Tylenol in recommended doses should be fine. I'd suffer through the Runny Nose and Cough, and treat the fever.

Basically, it's hard having the flu whilst pregnant - I was told the only thing I could take was paracetamol (or you could try Tylenol, depending on where in the world you are!) and, if you have a cough, you could get prescribed a "simple linctus", but that's about it I think, LOTS of hot drinks and rest! Check with your doctor to be sure, and look after yourself

I know how you feel - I have a cold and it's the second one I've caught when pregnant!
Unfortunately there isn't much you can take. I asked a pharmacist today about lemon and honey glycerin cough medicine and was told I can't take it!
You can take:
Paracetamol.
Or put some Vicks vapour rub/ olbus oil in hot water and inhale the steam
Honey and lemon to soothe your throat.
Aloe vera tissues to stop your nose getting too sore!

But basically stay warm and try to rest and in a few days you will be feeling better.

Sudafed (non-drowsy only) is safe. It will help clear a stuffy head, but it won't stop your nose from running. You can also take Robitussin DM or CF. I just had a cold myself, so I got a list from my OB. If you had a temp, you should really call your OB. A fever can be a sign of infection, so they may want to examine you. I had a really bad cold with my last pregnancy. I wasn't aware of it, but I had an ear infection as well, so I was given antibiotics and also prescription cough syrup that was safe for me to take. I hope you feel better. Get lots of rest. That's one of the best ways to get rid of your cold.

The only thing you can have is paracetamol. Don't take any of those cold and flu tablets as they contain aspirin and it thins the blood which isn't good for your baby.

Drink as much water as possible to keep your fluid levels up and try to rest as much as possible.

If your still feeling bad in a week go and see your doctor, just to be safe.
