If you have signed a lease for a year with the apartment for a year, but then suppose midway through the lease (say 6-7 months since you move in), you are trying to sublease the apartment because you are moving out of state for a new job. You try hard, but are unable to find a person to take over your lease. You still have about a week before you move out of the state for your new job, but still haven't found a person to sublease your apt. What would you do in this case?

Since the lease is almost up, the leasor might terminate the lease if you request. The lease agreement might prohibit you from subleasing anyway, so read your lease. If leasor does not let you out of your lease, you might can negotiate a payment so that you don't have to pay the entire lease. If you cannot anyone to sublease, then the market may be such that the leasor makes you pay the entire lease per agreement. Talk with the leasor and see what he does. Explain your situation and if you have been a good renter, leasor is more likely to cooperate. If all else fails, you will have to pay the entire lease and consider it a lesson learned.

I would talk to the management Co or the landlord. Normally they will let you cancel the lease with some kind of penalty. Read your contract. It should be part of the contract. Even if it doesn't say anything, it doesn't hurt to ask.
