barbells, what's the difference?

The barbell for the bench press is 45 lbs, correct? Last night the barbell I used was a bit thicker than the rest. I thought it might be 55 lbs. My friend says he's seen them before and that its 65 lbs. Does anybody know the general weights of the barbell? are there 55 lb or 65 lb barbells?

The barbell that you put weights on is usually 45lbs.

Yup, standard weight is 45lbs. Not to say there couldn't be others at a dif weight, but usually 45lbs.
