Hi,
I boiled a big stock pot of water last night and let it cool to room temperature. I left the pot covered on top of the stove. Is it ok to use this water thruout the day to prepare my baby's bottle? and do I need to warm the prepared bottle say put it in a pan w/ hot water to warm up the formula?

If you have bought the concentrated formula then it's ok to use the pre boiled water. But once the can is opened the remainder must be refrigerated. Once you mix then next bottle it maybe a bit too cold, so yes warm up the bottle.

I make up the full can at once, so I have several bottles in the fridge at once. I bought a good bottle warmer, it only takes seconds to warm. The warmer is by first years.

I had to add this after reading a few of the other posting. You CAN'T use warm tap water for babies under 6 months, the must be boiled for at least 2 mins. Just like their bottles, they have to be sterilized by having them in boiling water for at least 2 minutes or in a sterilizing unit. As I'm making alot of bottles, I invested in a good sterilzer.

If you want to boil water ahead of use I would recommend putting it in the fridge after boiling it. Then you would want to heat it to room temperature. But remember, it does not need to be hot. It needs to be room temperature. And it is important that it is always the same temp when you give it to the baby so you don't upset the babies stomach and cause constipation. I am assumming you are using powdered milk since you fix bottles as needed. I always preferred liquid because you can make a whole can to last all day with no extra mixing. I like powder for travel because all you have to do is put water in the bottle and mix when you need it so it does not spoil. Hope this helps.

I would put the boiled water in a sealed container & refrigerate it, as bacteria can form while the water is left in the pan. Why don't you boil the water & add both the formula & water to the baby bottles, then refrigerate the baby bottles all at one time? I always warmed up the baby bottle to just warm enough, so my baby wasn't drinking cold formula. That way, he didn't end up with a tummy ache.

teh water should be ok to use, but next time seal it up in a pitcher. As of for the warmed formula, depends on the child. My son hated anything cold, still doesn't like ice cream. My niece has no problem with any temp. Find out what works for your baby. The best advice I can give is would you rather eat a cold meal or a warm one. Warm milk def. helps them get lulled to sleep.

I never warmed up formula for my son, unless he was having difficulty going to sleep. That way if I was out with him in public I could just carry bottled water for his formula and it wouldn't bother him. Room temp is fine.

I do think I'd pour the water in a sealed container, though.

Is something wrong with your tap water? If you want to just let the water run until it's luke warm, you can use the water straight from the tap. I read somewhere that there is really no medical reason to even heat the water but I'd still avoid really cold water. Don't want to give the baby brain freeze. :-) And don't be afraid of the microwave. As long as you shake/stir the water/formula, then test it, you won't hurt the baby.

As long as the formula itself never goes in the microwave, your fine. Your boiled water is perfect! Its nice to hear someone doing it right. If your concerned just buy Distilled water (boiled water basically) not spring water.

Just use warm tap water. It just as good and takes a whole lot less time and fuss.
