Reliability. When was the last time an american car topped the reliability charts? Reliability and Reputation are the two key factors. I work in the automotive industry and American OEMs always spec for the cheapest products to meet their requirements. Japs spec for the best products money can buy.

The Japanese have some of the most advanced technology in the world, if not the most advanced. American technology is not as far along as Japan's. Also, American cars were not being made the way they were supposed to. The gas mileage was horrid and the cars would break down all the time. American car companies don't do this anymore, but people are still wary of those dealers.

Cheap prices. Some Americans forget how one sided trade is with Japan.Saving a few bucks at the expense of jobs here is very shortsighted.Even the companies building them here send their money back home.If Japan would even the playing field then I would consider one myself.Until then(if ever) I'll buy from an American company.

I used to own a Ford Taurus, and I just recently bought a Mazda 3. I did a lot of research, and foreign cars are cheaper for the same amount of "goodies" as American cars. They have great warrenties, and look better.
