I no longer even read their questions. I have better things to do than to even give them a second of my time

Well said mate!
Trolls are just that, trolling around... And when they get answers, well it makes their day since somebody noticed their trollishness and are also trollish enough to oblige them.
Now maybe you can score 2 points, or get a laugh out of it, and that's fine I guess, it makes it a win-win situation... But whenever anybody answers a troll's question, there are only 2 scenario:
win-win
lose-win
with the troll as the winner all the time...
So, is the troll raising his victor's arm today?

I think that maybe the troll DOES read the answers now. There has been a concentration of violation notices, specifically ones that say not a question or answer, for people who have been responding to them. So I think that maybe they DO read them, but only to report violations!
But really, I tend to not respond to them, except to occasionally answer their question with a yes or no. I don't let them bother me at all.

Their questions seem to be getting even lower, so I believe they do read some of the responses and feel it's becoming a game of one upmanship. Someone gets a good zinger at them for their stupidity and then the troll feels bested and must fire back even more viciously.
And Yahoo approves.

Does anyone out there really believe that the repeat trolls on this site care about what your answer is?
Hell No.

Obviously not. These trolls usually get more attention than real questions. It's so frustrating,

I used to respond to them until I realized that I was lowering myself to their level. Now I just report them and leave no response.

Of course they don't. Ignoring is the best response, as you say.

No, I really don't think that they care. I really don't find them very insulting either.
