Why aren't automobile manufacturers building flying cars? All they do year after year is to make slight body design changes. Reason why I don't buy new car is because of this. It seems auto manufacturers are complacent because consumers keep buying their unimproved cars. When will I be able to buy a Back to the future type of flying cars. Are they working on this right now?

A real flying car is a joke. They have built many over the years and they all proved completely impractical.Moller has been trying to peddle some type of flying car forever and all you get is bull****.If anyone comes up with one in your lifetime it would be a miracle.

Yes, cost, reliability, safety, and efficiency are still an issue. The link I gave you is an example of one that has been operational for years. They would be controlled by G.P.S. when in flight and the driver for ground movement. I just took note on the site you can actually buy one......Wow! It also seems efficiency is not bad.
