Although they don't contain caffeine, the sugar and carbonation content is high. Its best to avoid it but drinking it in moderation won't hurt.

I'm not sure about Mello Yello but Mountain Dew has A LOT of caffeine in it and yes you should avoid it. Caffeine increases the risk of miscarriage, increases the risk of low birth weight and premature birth, contains compounds called phenols that make it harder for your body to absorb iron which is important during pregnancy, causes your bones to lose calcium, increases both blood pressure and heart rate, and stimulates urination and thus reduces body fluid levels – an effect considered undesirable during pregnancy, when adequate hydration is important.

You can have a can or 2 a day. My doctor told me you can have 300 mg of caffeine a day, so about 3 cups of coffee, and Mountain Dew has alot less caffeine than coffee.
I also read a study last week that stated caffiene in pregnacy does not cause the problems the origianlly thought. I drink a large sweet iced tea every day and a couple cups pf coffee on the weekend and I am 26 weeks and baby is fine and actually measuring large(and they say caffeine causes low weight)

You can have caffeine while pregnant just drink it in moderation....having a can or two isn t going to harm you. The recommended amount is up to 200 mg a day. I drank coke and mountain dew with my first and now my second and all is well. Just don t over do it!

my oh my, what i wouldn't give for a mountain dew....i haven't had a soda with caffeine in years...i stopped all caffeine intake, with the exception of chocolate which has very little because i suffer from migraines....whenever i visit my family in michigan, i hit up the stores for caffeine-free mountain dew. unfortunately they don't carry it here where i live...tastes exactly the same..if you are drinking for the flavor, look for it, but if you want that buzz you get from the caffeine, then it might not be your thing.

wishing i had a dew....good luck to you and drink one for me..lol

Yes, the high amount of caffeine raises your BP, keeps your body from metabolizing b vitamins (folic acid included) and stops the absorbtion of minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

High BP deprives the baby of oxygen, and causes fetal stress, it raises toxin levels, works your already stressed kidneys. The missing nutrients means there is less for baby.

Dont drink or eat caffiene, and avoid sugar as well.

Those two beverages are probably the worst when it comes to having tons of sugar and caffeine, two things that are not good for a non-pregnant person- so imagine a pregnant one! Why would you want to put your baby at risk? And yourself as well!
