If you want to save money, when you go is at least as important as where you stay. Avoid special events, large conventions and weekends and you can find bargains. >As in 3 star hotels for around $25 and 4 star for $49 even the 5 stars will have $99 rates when it's really slow...Go at the "wrong" time and that 3 star could easily cost you $150-$300, and 4-5 star prices become staggering..

I have found you can save money by booking the air and hotel separate. I check hotel web sites for rates and compare them to the travel web sites. Many LV hotels will price match the lower rate. I always book through the hotel, I never buy a package deal from a wholesaler. By booking through the hotel as far in advance as possible, it gives me the chance to look for a better deal all the way up until I leave. If/when I find the better rate I cancel the reservation and make a new one, even if it's with the same hotel..

My favorite sites to check room rates

Hotels that I recommend

Orleans - They are located 2 miles from the strip on Tropicana - Free shuttle to the center of the strip. Very nice, very large rooms, very nice casino, they have a little bit of everything to do
http://www.orleanscasino.com

Barbary Coast - If you don't need a pool, the BC has as good a location as any hotel on the strip. Nice rooms, plasma screen TV's, great location, low room rates. Sister property of Orleans>access their web site through the one above.

Orleans ,Barbary Coast & Gold Coast will all price match>all you have to do is tell reservations that you found this rate for their hotel on this site, they will check it out right then and match they rate.

Stratosphere - Nice 3 star hotel, opened April 1996, Yep it's the one with the tower, rooms are okay, nothing special, has an adult pool, very low rates for the strip. The only drawback is it's location, at the far north end of the strip, you would need to have a car or ride the bus or trolley to access the other hotels, it's too far to walk. The strip bus(Deuce) is very nice & for $5 you get a 24 hour pass to use the CAT system anywhere in the valley.
http://www.stratospherehotel.com >will also price match

The Harrah's group of hotels will also price match and beat any online rate for their hotel by 25%, if you follow their rules.

Caesars Palace - top of the line 5 star mega-resort , and my favorite

Paris - this would be a great spot for you, $99 rates are possible. I found rooms for that rate in July, somewhere around between the 15th-27th. I'm sure they are lower at times, but that's a good rate

Rio - off the strip about a mile, free shuttle to the strip, very-very nice oversized rooms, they call them suites but they are not really suites, just very large hotel rooms with a few extras.

Bally's - Older property , great location, rooms are okay but nothing special.

Flamingo - good location, the "GO" deluxe rooms are a nice touch, but $50 more per night. They have one of the great pool areas.

Harrah's - good location, nice rooms, the rates are generally a little high

If you would be interested in the end of May? May 28th until June 1st has some very good rates.

One of my favorite hotels has a promotion going until the end of April if your looking for something right away. Luxor "PC" >PDGET17< that promo code is good until the end of April. They have rates as low as $69. Around the 1st of April they had some days you could string together for a nice stay. The Luxor is a very nice 4 star hotel, with just about everything you could imagine. The "Tower" rooms are slightly larger but I really like the Pyramid rooms, how often do you get to stay in the world's largest pyramid..

If you go when the room rates are low, hotels will have extra rooms this will give you the chance to upgrade your room at a bargain rate. The $20 trick is a time honored tradition in LV, when you check in have a $20 in your hand, ask the clerk if she/he has any upgrades available, he/she will say NO/I can't do that/It will cost you X amount>usually far less than if you had booked that room to begin with>you can pony up the difference if you really want the room. Or she/he will say let me take a look for you, in which case you're probably in luck, if you get the upgrade, and at the end of the transaction when he/she hands you the room keys you say "thank you very much" and give him/her the $20 handshake.

The Jacuzzi suites at Luxor are very nice and would be awesome for a honeymoon, if you could get one with a strip view that would really be something. The Jacuzzi is built up into the corner of the room, they would all have an incredible view.

>"cheap" & "good" do not compute in LV< Yes but "inexpensive" and "very nice" do. LIke I said if you will do a little planning and go when it's slow you can find rooms at a very low rate...>I'm holding 10 nights at the Gold Coast from December 16th-26th for a total cost of $224, $20 weekdays and $32 Fri/Sat(rate found 1/24 on travelworm) I'm also holding 2 rooms for 4 nights at $24 each at the Orleans May 28th-June 1st(rate found on travelworm 11/9) I have done much better than this 10 nights at $15 each at the Orleans, yes, Fri/Sat also.. Stayed at a 2 star just a few years ago on a web site special, $9 for the first night, second night free...These were not marketing offers, these were rates I found on web sites

Congratulations!

:cheap" "good" do not compute in LV. You get one or the other, and the one not taken is an illusion. Stay close to home if that is what you seek, or delay the wedding until you can afford more. Honeymoons should not be burdened by money costs. That burden you will meet during your married years.
I say best wishes to you and your SO,yet prefer you not be burdened by money needs.
