I understand different people have different opinion reagrding this thing but I would really want to know the law since I believe I use my neighbors signals and I kinda always have a guilty feeling about it cause I donno wther they want a 3rd person(me) to use their signals or not.If using others signals is against the law I probably will pay $ and get my own internet connection.Any answer is welcome.

IF your neighbor does not know and they find out, it is considered as theft of services, pretty much the same as tapping into their cable. *When you are online, it does slow down his connection to an extent. This may tip him off*

Legally speaking it is theft, with the intent to deprive the owner of that service. They pay for a service, which will have limited bandwidth, and may have a download cap. Morally speaking, it is a little more ambiguous. Their air-waves are entering your property. You could leaglly turn the tables and have some kind of injuction on this invasion, under some act or other. Analogy: - legally speaking, it's like sticking a hose in one of their taps, and stealing their water. morally, it's kind of as if they've paid for a stream (as in river) to come to their property, which also flows through your property, and you siphen off a few bucket loads. You could easily go to prison for it, but if you don't over do it, and steal all their bandwith all the time, then they probably won't notice, nor indeed care.

No, it is not illegal unless you use that signal with intent to harm or damage. There are a number of companies that offer free Wifi, such as airports, some resteraunts, etc. If it were illegal, would they advertise that you can do it for free? I dont think so.
Better, tho, is to ask your neighbor permission, and even offer to split the cost.

ask urself, r u getting somthing for free? isnt that illegal or at least unethical?

u need to ask urself, no one else can answer for u.

that said, if ur happy with the signal, talk to ur neighbor, tell them u will share the cost with them. eventually they will lock u out, its just a matter of time before they figure out that they need to create login/pass (credentials) for people to use it. then ur out anyway...

to the correct thing, talk to them, if no joy, then get ur own...

Yes, it is illegal.
Here is one view on the legalities of the use of Wifi Gear belonging to someone else, handy in that it cite statutes:

well I'm in Canada and I really do not know if there is law paper about this ...

but .. if some people do not want others to use their internet they have to secure thier network ! (get Network Key on their network)

if they leave it publicly like this ...

it is their choice

Why not knock on your neighbor's door and offer to pay for using his wireless ??? That way you won't be accused of stealing his resources, which now it technically is.....
