the seeds are from last years pumpkins that my son and I carved. He wants to grow our own this year.

That's so cute that your son wants to grow his own pumpkin....lol....I don't have a green thumb, but I'd say in a pot in April and then transplant them end of May or early June!!!! ;)

Plant them in early/mid May. That's what I do.
I usually have pumpkins by September to decorate my front porch for autumn.

Last of June first of July. Look on package for growth days and count backwards. 80 -90 days is about avg.

Plant in full sun after danger of frost is gone and give the plants lots of room to spread.
