I actually did that for my husband one night at a hotel. I lit 50 tealights all around the room. Everything went fine and we were careful but when it came time to blow them out the SMOKE Alarm went off. We weren't dressed and afraid they would come running in the room my husband pulled the alarm off the wall cause we couldn't shut it off.YEAH, it's funny now!!!

I work for a hotel chain, I would say no, get a room with a jacuzzi in it or a suite...you could get a serious fine for the alarms going off..they usually give fines for smoking in the room(like cigarettes) but candles smoke can be just as deadly. The smell will stay in the room, you could knock the candles over..the ac might blow the flame to close to something that could catch fire or the flame might damage it. as well the smoke sometimes can stain the ceilings..dont take the chance that you will have to pay a whole bunch of money for some little tea candles...

I was a general manager of a hotel for a few years and I had guests light candles and that was fine. At my hotel, lighting candles wasn't forbidden, but just be super careful that you don't burn anything or start a fire because you WILL be held responsible for any damages. I had a couple of occasions where I had to charge guests for burn damage. You should be OK lighting only 10 small candles, but one time I had this couple that rented the suite and lit so many candles that the fire alarm went off and the sprinklers came on!!! Just be super careful and have a great time! Hope this helped.

Most hotels now a days will not allow you to light candles because it will leave a smoke smell and may trip the alarm also you may get a charge for it. Just take a bath together

I have stayed in MANY hotels/motels, and as a smoker, never had any problems using a candle to make the room smell a little better, they do have smoking rooms in the USA, not sure for how much longer though, but anyway, maybe you could ask for a smoking room and explain it to the establishment? Good luck, and enjoy your romantic night/day :)

Since candles are a fire hazard wherever they are you just need to use caution (like never near materials (curtains, bed linens, etc). Unless the hotel has a rule about no candles I couldn't imagine why you couldn't use them with appropriate care. Make sure you have proper containers to set them on or in also. I hope you have a wonderful time. Good luck and God Bless.

I have lit candles in a motel room before. Just be sure to put them away from the curtains and in a place where they won't get knocked onto the floor.

Geez, people are harsh on this question! There's no difference having candles in a motel than in an apartment complex (think of the safety of others!)! Some people need to get over themselves!

Most hotels wouldn't have a specific policy against candles. But, if they knew about it, they'd tell you to put them out. And if, by any chance, there were a fire, you could be held responsible for negligence.

If you must burn candles, take along something to put under them so that you minimize the risk of fire and protect the hotel furniture.

only if you have something to place them under and they are away from things that could catch on fire like curtains etc.. and be sure not to knock them over and make sure you are in a hotel that allows smoking because if someone smells smoke and you are not in a section that says you can smoke then you may have problems because candles contain smoke and fire.

I have never seen any rules against it. You can call the hotel your staying at and ask if they have a policy against it.

No it wont cause the smoke detector to go off. Most hotels have sprinkler systems that go off when the room reaches a certin temperature. Their not triggered by smoke.
