I agree that there's some great classic stuff out there done by amazing bassists (Who, Beatles, Led Zep, Yes, Motown (Funk Bros)), but I think I'd try out some Beck for more textures in the low end (keyboards, samples, etc.). Beck's Odelay or Midnite Vultures CD is probably where I'd start...

I just watched the second Pirates of the Carribbean movie through my friend's Polks w/subwoofer, and the house was shaking during the battle scenes. I still don't see what's so great about this movie, but certainly the soundtrack was done with the latest technology and should give your system a nice workout.

"Roundabout" from Yes -Fragile comes to mind for some reason. Awesome tune. Chris Squire on bass.

Also, try "After the Cosmic Rain" from Return to Forever - Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy. This song was written by bassist Stanley Clarke, and he takes an awesome fuzz electric bass solo!

I just realized, am I '70s or what?

This is really old school, when I installed subs in a car, every time i finished I would put in Gangsta's need luv 2 off Ghetto D by Master P. It has some deep bass in it, if your set up is good enough, it will sound awesome, if it is a poor set up, you can tell by the speakers sounding like their bottoming out.

I would check out some of the old Who and Beatles songs, Both bands had two of the best bassists in the world.

For some reason BEP Elephunk really bumps in my car. You could really just put any techno song and jack up the EQ.

Try Jay-Z's ***** What off of the Life and times Vol. 2 album. Where he is in front of the blue Bentley.
