I'm against it, because music books are so bloody expensive nowadays... and where I live, the local music publishers who print the sheet music jacks up the price so much, the B******S!

I don't mind the musicians getting paid. But I hate all the other people getting fat.

I guess I'm for it. If you went to work today, wouldn't you like to get paid? I'm assuming you would say yes to that question. The same theory applies here. They just jack up price, because they can get away with it. Perhaps you should look somewhere else to get your sheet music printed. If it is original music (your own) you can get programs for your computer to actually do it your self. If it is sheet music of someone elses work, I'm sure you could find a better price somewhere on the net.

Your reasoning isn't right. Just because something is expensive doesn't mean that copyright laws are wrong.

There may be reasons for being against copyright, but this isn't it.

You see, the reason for copyrights is to allow people to get paid for their work. How'd you like it if you worked hard and then someone else got the money for it. You'd be mad.

So, copyrights are, in principal, a good thing.

If you think music books are expensive, then go ahead and write your own. Can't? Then you understand why someone who CAN should get paid.

I'm on the fence about the issue. On one hand, the artist deserves every cent for every album.

On the other hand, they dont make THAT much on the CD sales themselves. Performing live is where the real money is.

So I'd screw the record company out of the money for the album, but I would go to a concert to see the band.

I don't really download cd's anymore.

It's absurd that you would even ask this question. Try to learn the songs on your own by ear. Trust me...it will pay off huge if you WORK at it. Eventually you won't need chart/tab books and you'll be twice the musician.
