Since this "sport" is supposedly targeted at men, why do the "wrestlers" wear next to nothing? Couldn't they at least wear shorts like professional boxers? What's up with the tightie whities?

It's so they can have better movement and flexability! Boxers don't do the same flying kicks and bodyslams and such that wrestlers do! And wrestling isn't targetted for just the men, there are ALOT of women who watch it to.... like ME!!

If they were to much they sweat like hell. Plus they can be more flexible. The wrestlers get to choose their attire, so they pick they outfit style.

just like swimmers, extra stuff just gets in the way of flexibility, etc. also shows off physique, which helps with the female as well as the gay audience.

i know but it's because the high flyers could do big kicks and jumps with jeans so like shelton benjamin he can't do stuff with out tights that arent flexible
