Porsche for reliablility and build quality
Ferrari for passion and posability

I'd have both if I could afford them. A 959 and a 456GT

Porsche, the REAL ultimate in supercar engineering.

When was the last time you heard of a ferrari with 200,000 miles on the stock original tranny? Oh yeah, never.

ferraris are outrageous to maintain, and are very fragile.

The porsche is engineered to last, and to be just as fast. For half the price.

that being said, ferraris are still nice, but why not have a weekend car that you can drive every day (a porsche)

Ferrari of course it is way faster than Porsche. They have compact engines but lots of Horsepower for example a comparison between the Ferrari F430 and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS , the Ferrari has 483bhp@8000rpm and the Porsche 415 bhp @ 7600 rpm, and the GT3 RS has a 3.6L Boxer 6(also know as Flat 6) and the Ferrari has a 4.3 V8. The Ferrari hits 60 in 3.5 sec(euro spec w/ launch control) and the GT3 RS hits 60 in 4.1sec, Top speed for Ferrari is 196mph, Top speed for Porsche 187mph. The GT3 RS start at 170,000usd and the F430 at 160,000usd

A Porsche is an everyday car in my opinion. If i owned a ferrari i'd have to keep it garaged and only drive it on weekends. I love both, but if you think about value and reputation, i think ferraris are by far the best. Porsches seem way to common and affordable nowadays in my opinion.

In general, the Porsche's are "easier" to drive for any length of time.
The Ferrari has better lateral speed and in many cases outright top speed.

But after two hours of driving a Porsche, the feeling one gets is "I wanna drive more!".

After that much time in a Ferrari, the feeling is "I survived!"

I guess it depends upon your own personal tastes.

Ferrari is the more elogent of the two and much more expensive but Porsche is made more for our roads and probably does better here maintenance wise.
Porsche - there is no substitute.
