I have a Maxim volkera 24e combi boiler and recently the hot water has started running hot and cold. The central heating is working fine it's jusy the hot water at fault. Also the pressure indicator keeps dropping off to zero, i can increase the pressure by opening the two valves inderneath. Does anyone have any ideas how to remedy this without having to go through the costly routine of calling out a plumber? Cold showers are not nice! Cheers.

Unusual.... Was gonna say sounds like a problem with pressure in the system being lost somewhere (sometimes through the expansion vessel), but If the CH works fine, then this cant be the case.... Its most likely that its an electronic problem, possible with the main PCB control board..... When does the pressure indicator drop to zero? Does it do so when the CH is on?

Ok, so just got ur e-mail and my answer is its probably the expansion vessel in that case. If the pressure is gradually dropping when using both CH and HW, then the most common place for it to escape is through a damaged expansion vessel. Unfortunately, this is a big job to change so ur best consulting a qualified engineer.

A couple of weeks ago this happened to me - I had noticed the pressure dial was pretty low and woke up one morning to no hot water and heating. Luckily we have the British Gas service agreement that we pay £16 a month for and somedody came out the same day to fix it.
