Olive Garden is a nice family restaurant; Macaroni Grill is a superb Epicurean experience. (Yum. Let's go!)

Pasta is pasta, unless you're getting into homemade stuff. Neither of these places has a unique recipe.

Cooking time/method and storage can make a big difference, though. Too many places boil the heck of it, then leave it sitting in a warm water bath until ready to serve. Yuck.

Sauces, however, can be a big difference.

In general, Macaroni Grill does a better job than Olive Garden in all aspects. However, your personal tastes may run to Olive Garden.

Neither is as good as a REAL Italian restaurant. And I'm not talking about the places in strip malls in Iowa. I'm talking about small family places in Italian neighborhoods in places like New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.

I would have to say Olive Garden. I love there broccoli Alfredo and the pasta e fogoli(sp). Although in all fairness, I have only been to Macaroni Grill once!
