Events right after the civil war and in the 1950's culminated in the placing of this unconstitutional religious motto on United States coins and currency. The issue of coin and currency mottoes was never submitted to the electorate for any type of vote.

Events of 1954, 1955, and 1956 in regard to the establishment of religious mottoes slipped through Congress almost unnoticed in the midst of the McCarthy reign of terror.

It was not by the overwhelming voice of the people that a religious motto was interjected into our coins, currency, national motto, and pledge.

In Europe we use the 'Euro' these days and there is no mention of God on it.

That would be probably be unacceptable here these days as so many people are not religious. - or maybe it's a practical point as it would have to be in about 15 languages!

Interesting question!

No, though we respect money and treat as God or God's gift. And in my religion and culture, we never let it touch or fall on our feet even by mistake. It brings misfortune and might leave us.
