It seems to be hotter than normal.

Apply a thin layer of thermal paste between the processor and the heatsink if you haven't already. You can get it for cheap, about $10.

It is on the hot side if that temperature is when the PC is sitting there doing nothing. One of my reports has a graph of temperatures when running a burn-in (number crunching) test on an AMD XP running at 2.08 GHz. Here, the temperature rises from 32C to 61C after 10 minutes, where it appears to be stabilising. In this case, the room temperature would have been around 21C.

If this is a desktop, probably not. If it is a laptop, probably yes.
Laptops run hotter than desktops and often have overheating problems, while properly maintained/designed desktops rarely have overheating problems.

No, thats not too hot eventhough most amd chips run cooler than that. Their threshold temperature is around 75c

XP bus speed is 133.33 MHz (DDR266), 166.66 MHz (DDR333) or 200 MHz (400DDR) not 100MHz (DDR200), so you're definately TOO HOT at your given speed...

Hi Zax,

Anything under 60C is O.K.

You are in pretty good shape.
