i dont want to put it all on cds but what kind of storage device do i need? thanks

a flash drive is good for data but too small for media files
best get an external hard drive usb 2.0 / firewire

a decent 250 gb usb 2.0 hard drive from tigerdirect is $70
best is it's a top rated product by tigerdirect

External HDD from PC world with a USB plug, great way to back up and store files, not only music but mpg etc as well, so you have alot of versatility there, but if you only have a few MB then either a USB flash drive or MP3 player.

Depends on how much you have, if you only have a couple of hundred MB then a jump/pen/flash drive would be ok, if you have a few GB then an external usb hard drive would be a better choice

My thought, get an external harddrive. You can put all your files there as a backup, and it is not terribly expensive.
