I work as a sous chef at a restuarant, and the hand basin in our toilet has broken. We obviously have other sinks that we can use, but to be honest, I cant be bothered. Plus I have this theory that since we are cooking all of our food, any bacteria i may have on my hands from going to the toilet will quickly be consumed by the heat of cooking anyway.
So far my boss hasnt caught me not washing. Do you think I can get in trouble if im found out?

That's totally unacceptable. As a chef, you should not only be washing your hands after using the bathroom, but should also be washing them whenever you move between stations in the kitchen, after handling raw or partially cooked meat, after touching yourself in any way (don't be vulgar - I mean brushing back your hair, rubbing your eyes, or scratching your nose). When I worked for Starbucks, I washed my hands about every 10 minutes.
Not only is your lack of hand washing disgusting, it also violates any public health code I've ever heard. Yes, you could get into serious trouble, as could the restaurant. Start washing your hands!

Let me know where you cook at. That way I can stay the hell out of there. Or maybe you should put your hands in boiling water so the bacteria will be killed BEFORE you touch other people's food.

you should always wash your hands whether its a bother or not and you could get in trouble but i doubt it. just let me know what restaurant you cook at so i will be sure not to eat there
