Mugals were from Turkistan in Central Asia of Mongol origin. . They were Shi'ite Muslims. They ruled the north India from circa 1526 to 1707. "Mogal" is the Persian word for "Mongol" meaning "tycoon".
Cholas were Tamil Kings who ruled from circa 850 to 1280. They had their ups and downs during this period. Thus there were three distinct paces in Chola dynasties. The might of Cholas attained the height during the Great Raja Raja Chola and Rajendra Chola. They ruled almost entire South India including Sri Lanka and Laccadives. They were Siva-bhaktas and built a number of Temples for Lord Siva. They were one of the pioneers in seafaring and expanded their dynasties to far east.
