Sorry about my previous question, I thought they were the same thing. So should I be worried now if they didn't see anything through a vaginal ultrasound.

What did the doc tell you after the scan? Vaginal ultrasound is much more accurate than the belly scan so I would think that if you are pregnant, the ultrasound would have seen the baby.

Each case is difefrent . I have seen fetal poles with heart motion as early as 5 weeks vaginally , and in other cases it's well ovr 6 weeks before I can even identify the fetal pole at all. There are different factors that effect imaging . Uterine position and size: retrovrted ut's are harder to image , as are larger ones because the vag proble is high resolution which means that penetration is limited ( due simply to the actual physics of sound waves),s the farther away the gestational sac is , the harder to see. Also , body habitus plays a role....is the patient heavier or is she thin?? Ultrasound cant see through bowel , so if you had gassy foods for dinner that could possibly even play a role. The most common reason for not seeing a heart rate early , aside from miscarriage is simply that the patient is not quite as far along as she thinks . not every woman ovulates on days 13 thru 15, some go earlier , and some later .....being off by as little as 5 days to a week makes a HUGE difference sonograhically! :-)

Chances are your Doc will schedule a follow -up ultrasound , or do serial bloodwork to watch your BetaHCG levels , and make sure that they go up accordingly .

Relax...it's the best thing you can do for you and your baby:-)

How far along are you? I had complications early on in my pregnancy and had to have a vaginal ultrasound at about 7 weeks. The baby was small, but it was definitely there. If they didn't see anything I might be worried but wait and see what the doctor says.

Did they see a sac? You can see a baby early when having a virginal one. Even ealrier than 5/6 weeks. They would see something. i have heard stories where women have not been as far along as they thought and ended yp with a baby. Follow docs advise. Are they re scanning? have you had blood work. Good Luck

It depends on how early in your pregnancy you are. The earlier you are, the harder it is to find the baby. especially if the heart hasn't begun beating on its own, and after 8 weeks it can be picked up by an ultrasound. Thats what my doc told me.

Talk to your doctor about it. From what my dr told me when I was pg, the vaginal ones are hard to see the baby. The one thing I'd be concerned about is ectopic PG or implantation in an od location. Definately follow up with your dr.
