There are several things that have happened in my life to make me appreciate it, but i would have to say the number one thing was the birth of my son. I had serious complications trying to have a vaginal birth with my son, i had just had a c- section 13 months before with my daughter. I came very close to loosing my life and he was born technically dead. they got him back and lost him again 3 times. he was touch and go in the nicu for three days. on the forth day, the Dr came in the room and said i shouldn't expect him to live through the weekend.well, thank god Dr's aren't always right, because miraculously, I took home a perfectly healthy boy the very next day, much to the amazement of the Dr's. He is now almost 10 with absolutely no health problems and i appreciate every birthday we have together.

Whole families just screaming at each other with hate. That is one of the saddest things I have ever seen and in comparison my family life as a kid was not bad.
It's not selfish to feel good about yourself.

I was almost crushed to death by a dump trunk. I no longer kill even bugs, except of course the ones that want to make a meal out of me. as to your questioning about your appreciation that your friend comes to you, be careful, if one day she is success full you may take it harder than you should..its not a very friendly thing for your friend to put you in that position

Watch a tiny insect struggling to save its life again and again as you try to drown it in a tiny drop of soapy water again and again. In five minutes your strong fingers get tired, what about the tiny insect? For it, it is a matter of life. By instinct, the value of one's life is the same; whether yours or the insect's. Appreciate life? No! Glorify it!

Breast Cancer.
Since chemo, every day has been a gift. Sometimes I wonder if it's an April Fools Day gift, but a gift none the less!

One thing that made me appreciate my life was I had someone that was very close to me die recently and it was a quite sudden and unexpected death, so that made me realize that live life to the fullest and appreciate what you have because anything can happen anytime, and also it made me realize cherish the people close to you becuase you never know what'going to happen tomorrow. That is what made me appreciate my life.
