It's been 3 days since the obstetrician swept my membranes, on my due date, in an attempt to start labor. Should I assume it didn't work?

Is it possible for labor to start more than 72 hours later as a result of this procedure?

Yeah pretty much! Often this procedure only irratates the uterus anyway. Hang in there baby will come. You can try some home stuff if you want like sex and spicy food evening primrose oil vaginally, castor oil. Or maybe find a good massage therapist to work on some pressure points to see if they can get labor going. But make sure you drink plenty of water after a massage or with any method you may try. Yes but you could call your dr. adn make another appointment, they will scrape again. Usually, the first scrape, its a very light one in the hops to just get it started and to allow your body to do the rest of the work. The second scraping is more invasive and usualy, you will not need a third. Good Luck.... baby is on its way real soon!!!

Most women I know who've had their membranes strippes found it not to be effective. 72 hours later and you may be in labor on your own, unreleated to the strip.
