Friends say they have noticed that films rented from Blockbuster Video have been altered.

No if they did that the movie companies would sue them. Its against the copy-write laws to make changes and pass it off as the original. Now they may only rent the original versions and not the directors cut but not versions edited by anyone else.

i hate Blockbuster for that exact reason! no unrated or directors cut films at all! ye si believe they do get them from those businesses

No, they don't. They may not carry soft porn, but they don't do any editing themselves of any movies.
