The dealership estimate was crazy. Will probably take my car to a local mechanic.

J, both of those are relatively easy tasks on the I30, which is identical to the Maxima.

The radiator can be tackled by a novice, and replacement radiator can be had from RadiatorBarn for around $100. Make sure to replace hoses and thermostat as well.

The drive axle is a little more difficult, but not impossible for the "backyard mechanic".
