It is possible to reactivate the phone with a new number by replacing the sim card.

With Sprint, it's unlikely. Since Sprint only really uses "branded" phones, they have a lot more control than a company that allows unlocked phones with SIM cards.

When you report the phone stolen, Sprint logs the ESN. If someone tries to activate it, the ESN will be on the "stolen" list. That person will need to prove that they are YOU in order to re-activate it.

That said, a thief could get an untrained Sprint CSR and get him to activate the phone.

No, they can't. When the ESN is entered a message will show up stating that the phone has been reported lost or stolen.

no they cain't because each phone has a serial number and they just deactivate it. If you have T-Mobile the Sim chip would be the one that would get deactivated but the phone would work if you put in a different "working" Sim card.

nicely, your already to blame of knowingly receiving stolen resources. i'd be pissed if my buddy bought me stolen resources without my expertise. stop messing with that telephone and turn it in to the police or mail it decrease back to verizon and avert going to penal complicated.
