Well...I watched a movie last year after my AP US History class had taken the AP test, which was called Kelly's Heroes. It's an older movie (from the 70's) with Clint Eastwood. It takes place during World War II, but it doesn't deal with a lot of things that you associate with WWII like the Holocaust or Iwo Jima. It is funny and light-hearted for the most part. The best WWII movie that I have seen is probably not appropriate for 8th grade (I first saw it 2 years ago when I was a sophomore) but I'll throw it out so you can think about it. Schindler's List with Liam Neeson is amazing. It may not be quite appropriate in some aspects (some scenes are iffy) but the main plot is appropriate. It is rated PG-13 or R (I can't remember) but it is a great film. Not a very happy one, but then again, are any Holocaust movies happy? We watched it in my Modern World History Class, and there were times when there wasn't a dry eye in the class. Even the boys had tears in their eyes. Since you are in 8th grade, that may not be the best option. I remember watching The Pianist with Adrien Brody when I was in 8th grade in history class, another Holocaust story. Good luck!
