YES!! Way too early. The American Peadiatric Association recommends, no solid food before 6 months. People will tell you how they fed their babies before then, but that DOES NOT make it right.
A baby's digestive system is far too under developed at that age. They also can develop allergies if you feed them too soon. They also have not fuly developed their swallowing ability and it can be a choking hazard. 9 weeks is WAY, WAY too soon to start any solids. What's the rush?? It won't make your baby sleep more, that is a total myth. Do your baby a favour and give them nothing but formula or breast milk, until at least 6 months of age. And please do not listen to people who say it is ok, because it is not ok, and you could set your baby up for life long degestive problems or severe allergies.

I started my son on a tiny amount of rice cereal mixed with formula (or breast milk of you are breast feeding) a few times through out the day. Because he would only get about a teaspoon or so down, I fed him a bottle afterwards. After he started getting the hang of it I introduced him to fruits and veggies mixed with a little water. Once he actually started to eat I would gradually thicken it up. The best advice when starting solids is to think of it more like a game. Don't expect your baby to get the hang of it right away, it takes a while. It's also REALLY messy. Baby foods stain so I would suggest putting on a shirt that your baby can ruin or no shirt at all. Bibs help but not enough! One thing I did for my son was to just dump a bunch of baby food on the tray and let him play in it. He loved it and it made for some great pics!

WAY too early! Babies under 5 or 6 months can't digest it, and you run the risk of food allergies at that age.
Besides that, when your child is of age, you start with cereal, then veggies, then fruit. (Save the sweet stuff for last - babies love it and you don't want to have a fight getting the not sweet stuff into them.)

I started my son on fruit at 3 months..... he would cry for more so I would offer him more milk but he wouldn't take it so I offer him juice (blackcurrant as he would spit plane water back out) but still no luck so I would offer him fruit for the midday feed and this worked. I must stress that he was still getting his required amount of milk a day his feeds just went from every 4hrs to every 3hrs. Try farix first but mine didn't like this, note they will screw there nose up at first but I found that if you smiled at him and said yummy he would try again. If they keep spitting it out give up and try fruit but plain first don't get to adventurous. By 4mths he was eating veggies, I would offer these after his last bottle and once I knew what he ate I would do it the other way round.
You know your child is ready if they can hold up their head and sit up supported are interested in what your eating, and the tounge reflex that pushes things out has gone.
If you look in the book you were given at hospital, in the feeding section there is a chart and this actually has fine puree introduced about 3mth. But I would make the fruit and veg courser before offering cereal, I would introduce that about 7/8mths. Just remember you know your child best.

It is way to early to introduce food at all. Breastfeed baby's hould wait til around six months and some doctors will okay it at about 4 months exspecially for formula fed babies. The train of thought on this is the child should be able to sit up in order to prevent chocking hazards at least with little support. Also you have a much higher risk of allergic reactions if you introduce cereal or any kind of food to your child before 6 months of age. They get all the nutrition they need from milk at this stage. You really need to discuss these guide lines with your Dr. or if you don't have a regular Dr. contact your local health department or WIC administrtor for more information.

Breastmilk only for first 6 MONTHS.
That's the rule. Some people start introducing really really really watered down rice cereal at 4 months, but definitely not at 9 weeks. Your baby doesn't need it now. Wait til the baby's tummy is ready for these heavy strange foods. Wait at least four months. Talk to your doctor. He can help you understand.
Absolutely not. Your baby should be sitting on his/her own. There's sooo many factors. But 9 weeks is wayyyy too early.

Yes, its is most definitely too early to feed solids.
Contrary to popular belief feeding solids does not necessarily help the body sleep through the night so I would wait until the baby is 6 months of age.
The main reason not to feed solids is because the baby's tummy is immature. And they can have allergies

I started my daughter at 3 months, Dr said it was ok even thoughit says on the box 6 months. Use the rice cereal first it is easier for the baby to digest and make sure it is watery while feeding it to your baby. Never ever introduce fruits to your baby before carrot, peas and so on, or you will have a hard time feeding her the veggie foods cause she will prefer the the fruits instead.( cause it taste better)
I use nestle good start cereal,

Yes, it is too early. Babies shouldn't have any cereal until they are at least 4 months old, because their little digestive systems aren't ready for any kind of solid foods yet, and you should start with rice cereal first, it's a little easier on their tummy.

When I had my son a year ago I had everyone telling me to give him cereal in his bottle at night. Why? Because they wanted him to sleep through the night. I couldn't give him cereal until he was around 5 months because his body didn't like it. He cried and cried and it made his belly hurt. I think this happens to a lot of babies, but no one ever connects the dots and figures out what the problem and why they are crying.
