How do I reinstall a soundcard?

My sounds messed up, and I was told that by reinstaling the sound card, the sound would be ok again.

You can install the drivers for the sound card by downloading the drivers from the manufacturer website of your computer... Let me know the model and make of your computer so that I can assist you in downloading the sound drivers for your computer.. You can also find the drivers on the Drivers CD that you have received when you purchase the computer.. Use the CD and install the drivers for sound on your computer....

Check the drivers status for sound in the device manager..
Follow the steps given below.
> Click Start, click Run, Type devmgmt.msc and click Ok.
> Click on the + beside the Sound Video and Gaming control in device manager, and there you should have 6 entries under it. Also check if there are any yellow exclamation marks in front of the entries under it.. If there are yellow exclamation marks or if there are only 4 to 5 entries under it then the drivers for the sound has to be installed. Follow the above ways to install the sound drivers on your machine....

You don't need to physically reinstall the sound card right away. You should try reinstalling the driver first. You should be able to do so by deleting the old driver from the device manager. Then just use your setup CD to install the driver again.

Or you can use Windows Update (provided you use Windows as an OS).

1 insert the mainboard disk
2 go to start menu --> right click on my computer --> click properties
3 click hardware tab
4 click on device manager
5 right click on the sound icon
6 then click properties
