What part is the GROSS--that fact that you know enough about WoW to talk to him about it or the cybering? If it's the cybering, you shouldn't tell your friends that at all. There is such a thing as TMI. Obviously you are into WoW too or you wouldn't have met him at all. So are you embarrassed to tell your friends that you play video games? If they know you do and don't judge you, they won't judge him either.
Personally, I've had many relationships come to their end due to video games so I'm a lil biased against dating guys that into video games but if it is an interest that you share, and not an obsession that either of you have, I don't see what the problem is.
Or better yet, why not don't mention it to your friends at all? How often do you friends as "So what are your new boyfriend's hobbies?" That's a lil weird. I don't see why you even have to mention it. If they ask how you met, just laugh it off and say Actually we met online in a CHATROOM, is that not so dorky!
They aren't likely to ask "What chatroom?" and if they did you could pick on them about always following your lead.

Find some horrible WoW cosplay and send it to him. Hopefully he'll be so turned off by fat and ugly people posing as Night Elves that he'll be nauseated at the thought of playing the game and instead would rather spend his time having nonstop cyber secks with you.

You were in a chatroom about WoW in order to meet him. What did you expect, that he *wouldn't* play the game?
It's just a game, just a hobby like anything else. And there are a lot worse pastimes out there than computer games, I promise you. Try learning a bit more about electronic gaming as a hobby, and perhaps you won't think it's so "gross".
If you can't deal with his hobbies, it may be better not to pursue a relationship further.

I actually don't have a problem getting decent chicks.
I'm charming, and know some slick moves.
If you like a cashier in a gas station, buy a lottery ticket.
When she asks what kind, say "Pick your favorite one."
She goes to hand you the ticket you tell her,
"Keep it. Maybe you'll get lucky." Then leave.
Talk right, and you can get that chick.

Every guy I date plays WoW. It's not a bad thing, in fact, they tend to get rather kinky! Sure, I have to dress up as a night elf from time to time, but it's dawning a blood elf costume that really gets my blood boiling. No pun intended!

My boyfriend plays WoW, as a matter of fact I do too. That's like our thing. We play together.
However, becoming involved with someone you met online is something you should do with caution.
