Both.
I love the excitement of getting ready to go, and the knowing you are going to be getting away from it all for awhile. But then after the vacation is over, I like the feeling of going back home. Sleeping in your own bed, home-cooked meals, family and friends....
so, both; in their own special way....
:-)

Starting the trip is a 10, returning home is a 9.

Usually I'm happier on the return home. By then I'm burnt out from the trip and just want to get back to familiar surroundings.

It depends. If I'm having a stressful time then I'm happier to start a trip but if the trip itself is stressful then I'm happy to return home.

It depends on what kind of a trip. If it's like a vacation, I love leaving for the trip. If it's like a death in the family, I don't enjoy any aspect of it. If it's for business, I hate being away from my kids so the best part would be coming home to them.

Actually that all depends upon how well the trip went. For the most part I am full filling my wanderlust and once I've been out there then I kind of miss home after a while.

the anticipation before and getting there is better.......don't usually want to come home unless it's been a two week trip or more. Then I start feeling like there are things that I need to be doing at home.
