Solve by substution

Show the work if possible. I know I am doing something wrong because I came up with two different answers.

Dude, you need to muddle through this simple problem so that you understand it. Anyone who gives you the answer is hurting, not helping, you. Here are some hints:

First off all you have to do is set 4x+5 equal to (x/2)+2 since both quantities are equal to y. Then solve for x. To check correctness substitute the value of x in both expressions and see if you get the same "y".

y=4x+5 subrtact 5 from itself adn 4x adn then you end up with 1x for an answer. adn y=1/2+2 subract 2 from itself and 1/2 and you get 1/2 x for an answer. hope its right. good luck
