Depends on which instrument you want to play. You have to make that decision, nobody else can make that one for you.

Well do you want to play bass or guitar? A bass guitar is pretty boring unless you have a guitar to play along with. If your just starting pick the guitar. What you learn from the guitar you can later find out if you would rather play bass.

Well, do you even know how to play either one?
If not, how much time do you have to put into learning? IMO, bass is easiest to learn so that might be a consideration.
Do you like to be out in front or in the background? With regular guitar, you can learn the lead parts, runs and riffs. You can always play by yourself without accompaniment with the lead guitar.
If you would rather be in the background, bass might be for you. The parts for bass usually aren't that exciting (but usually easier). So, what's your thing, dawg... Don't let us decide for you!

what's better the guitar or the drums? That is the kind of question you are asking.
They are different instruments with different techniques for playing.
If you've got people to play with then Bass is a lot of fun because it is mainly an accompaniment instrument. If you playing solo then guitar is better because it it is well suited for accompanying a voice or solo. If you do play with others then you can also play guitar as a rhythm instrument.

Just Plain and Simple the Electric Guitar is better than the bass guitar. Guitar is more fun to play and chicks dig the guitar player in the band more than a bass player.

You cant compare the two because eventhough theyre both electric and both guitars, they are used for very diffrent reasons. One is used for very low bass notes and the other can be used for , solo, or numerous other things. You just need to decide wether you want to handle tempo or to learn solos, or be the bass line.

Bass is awesome. Theres too many guitar players out there. Bass is fun to play because you can basically make up your parts even when covering songs.

learn to play regular guitar first because it is also of fun and it is easier to switch from guitar to bass because with guitar you can learn how to pick and strum but if you choose bass and switch to guitar chords and strumming are lots harder. plus guitar is much better to when you want to just get away for a few hours and just do something fun

How would anyone here know which guitar YOU want to play?
You have to decide if you want to be a bass player, or a lead or rhythm player....no one else can make that decision for you.

Who do you love more; your mother or your father? Sister or brother? Geez, mon! Use your ears. Try each and see what you prefer. While they are string instruments, they serve different functions and have very different ranges. Jaco Pastorius was one of the greatest elec bassists alive and managed to pull off unbelievable solos that could rival any guitarist alive or dead. On the guitar side, Duane Allman was probably one of the greatest guitarists and played beautifully lyrical, soaring solos. Use your ears, try each. You may want to do both...
