For me, the dark side of ambition is a void; ambition is a desire, a dream. If we don't at least have dreams to hope for, whether or not we have God, then we are lost somehow. Our dreams/ambitions make us who we are in our hearts, give us passion for life and/or God, and make us hopeful for the future.

The dark side of ambition (in my opinion) is "personal reinforcement of self-worth!"

Some people need this constantly to justify their existance
