The power of visualization is powerful. But you must know the correct method to do it. You can materialize what you want in life, whether good or bad. So be careful, choose only good powerful thoughts because what we gives out will eventually come back to us.

A number of athletes use visualization. There's nothing mystical about it, it's simply a method these athletes use to narrow their focus.

Flashpro gave the example of using it in a Golf tournament, so I'll expand on that a bit.

When a golfer is about to make a putt, he would visualize the putt first. He would think about factors like the distance the putt and/or whether it's a straight putt or if the ground slopes, which could cause the ball to curve in it's path to the hole. So, he imagines taking the putt, thinking about how hard he would have to strike the ball, and what direction he would have to strike the ball in.

After going over the putt carefully in his mind, he will be able to play the stroke with a solid strategy in his mind.
