7 1/2 and it was exactly like that, I had it, got home from work, asked him, "how long are we going to live like this?", he said, "I don't know." I said, "I do, I'm filing for a divorce tomorrow." and I did and it was just another few weeks before it was over.....

There's only one way to know if you've had enough. It has nothing to do with how long you've been married. Ask your self the following questions.
1. If he was to find a new girlfriend right away, would I be upset?
2. If I tell him I've had enough and then he tries to apologize and say he'd like to do counseling, would I give him another try?
3. I'm I going to fight him with regards to who gets the kitchen table?
The final question 4. I know I will be miserable alone, but is it better than being miserable with him?

If you can ask yourself these questions and not care if he's with someone else, and your not willing to put anymore effort into the relationship and could care less who gets the furniture. And you would rather make yourself miserable than to continue to let him make you miserable, than its over!!!
I knew my marriage was over when I started wishing he would find someone else so that I didn't feel guilty for leaving and he wouldn't try to get me to stay.
Good luck, get some confidence and redefine who you are!

Married 14 yrs before we split but how long was it before the bad started out weighing the good ? well that's hard to say. Everyone has there own tolerance limit. With no background info its hard to give you any specific advise.

Life is to short to be unhappy most or all of the time. A divorce can be as bad as a death personally I believe worse, sorry about your loss.

when you both have tried everything possible to make things better and with no luck. being in a relationship and not being happy will only make your life stressful. You have 1 life, live it happily.
I came from a broken home and I grew up perfectly fine, so if you are worried cause you have kids, they will be fine in time. if you don't have children get out while you can if it's that bad.

Plz dont be stupid like me and wait 18 years!! Its harder for the kids and you. If you've tried everything and its still not working, then it is best to get out of it and your life will be much happier in the long run. GL!
