In regards of famine in food relief, and alot of this food is stored in wear houses and it never reaches them .Would it not make more sense to help them with irrigation systems ,and equipment to help them instead of relying on food from large national donations etc.?

This is already being done, although it is also true that some aid is being bogged down in red tape.

I think its better that the African Continent become self-sustainied instead of getting money from 1st world countries... 1st you should start off by forgiving their debt.... then teaching them how to run an effective, corrupt-free government, and then setting up programs to teach people how to farm or giving them livestock.... it's hard to set up an irrigation system when many people don't even have running water and they have to walk 2 miles with a bucket. Many are too weak to work because they dont have food.... so first we feed... then we build. There's a charity that donates sheep to poor families so they can have milk... that would be the first start and then we can take it from there.

the reason why nations raise money for countries like Africa is because Africa is a poor country and the people who live there need help. The people there are starving they have hardly any food or clean water and the houses that they live in are not made very well. The have no clothes nothing. They need medical help and medical supplies and most of the people in Africa are dying or diseases and of starvation.

Most nations actually do both, in time of immediate need for food supplies they often fly it in, but otherwise there are many global organizations geared towards helping people with their issues (water filters, irrigation, farming techniques, etc.)

Yes it would, but a lot of these people(USA for Africa, etc.) rely on symbolic gestures to gain PR, and that's all they really want; if they really wanted to help these nations it would be done by now. You know how the saying goes; give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime. What needs to be done is not only airlifts of food being sent; that's a short-term solution. What needs to be done is to teach them to storehouse food against famine, and to teach them to do for themselves, so that we don't have to be their breadbasket, but they can do for themselves on a regular basis, and not need the help.

Another project under way in Africa that is helping a lot, is establishing banks willing to give out loans to Africans who have no credit and little collateral in an effort to give them the opportunity to better themselves. Surprisingly, this program is working quite well.

But that doesn't sound as nice! Picture Bono digging a trench. If we actually fixed their problems, the memebers of our 'feel good' industry would actually have to make a living.
